On 22th of February, we go for our first distribution of food by joining as volunteers with French group to Street Feeders of KL.
At first when we reached central market i saw lots of people wearing black or the white shirts as the organisor had already mentioned and asked for throughout the facebook page. I was a bit shocked cause its really lots of people and there were different types of age group but when we went to the actual gathered place which was the clock tower there, I'm more shock cause the crowds were really big and i dont know how to describe that. Haha 😂
We waited for almost 10-15 minutes then only we started to take photos. After taking the photos, the organisor asked us to donate some money if we wanted to and all the money they got will go and buy the food for the homeless people. Then i donated some. After that, they started to explain all the rules to us and all the people starting to find their own route. There got 4 routes and different route will go to different place. I still remembered one of the route were only 10 persons i think, because the place they went is dark and more dangerous compared to the other routes so that the organisor or person incharge can be more easier to take care of them. After that we got our food, which were bun, rice, banana and mineral water. Some of us didnt get all that four things as i had mention just now, but got one uncle he suddenly stopped us, he opened his bag and gave us the water and some bananas. They were actually good, seriously.
Then we started to go to our first destination which was Masjid Negara (if i remember the name correctly 😅) by walking. For me its not tired and i think that is good cause we can exercise. When we reached the place, the organisor told us what can we say and what cannot. We still met one of the homeless people who was mentally not that stable by that time, and we were warned by the organisor not to get close to him. And its dark actually cause its night so i felt scary at first. And we dont know what to do actually. But we tried, we all tried. After that i was asked to go to the other side to give water to the homeless people. Then we feel awkward cause its not only one homeless people there, there were more than five homeless people there. So we discussed with the French group cause they were there. And we decided to sing songs for them. Then we asked for permission and asked the homeless people to choose the songs they want to hear then we tried to sing for them. Its interesting and i like the way i feel during that time. Its warm. I dont know how to describe but i just know that we all having joy, having fun and gaining some lessons that we will never get to learn inside the class. I felt very happy also when one of the homeless people said i'm steady and i sing very nice 👍 hahaha i was really really happy by that time because i felt that: ya they really like it, they are listening to it and they all showing the smiling faces, it makes me feel satisfying and cherishing.
The next place we went which was the last place called Dataran Merdeka. There were not lots of homeless people at there so the organisor only chose around 10 person to go amd distribute the food and clothes. Then we all just sat at there and listened to different experiences from different organisors. I agreed with the organisor as he said we all were living inside the comfort zone, we can get what we want easily but the homeless people were not! We wont get to feel what they feel and what they were going through. We cannot look down on them and we should helped them as we can. Suddenly got one guy stopped our conversation as he was hungry and wanted to get some food and water. So one of the organisor brought him to the place where we put our things, the food, the old clothes and so on. And he gave the guy some food, clothes and boxes to put all the things inside. Then the guy come in front of us and keep thanking us. I feel sad by that time actually cause i was wondering where were their children and what were they doing if they really got children. The first thing come to my mind was my family so its really a weird and a good experience for me.
When i came back to kk9, my seniors asked me: very tired right? I answered them actually quite interesting and i asked them to go and tried also. Haha 😂
Looking forward to the next distribution. 😊 Its really a very good experience for all of us.
