So on the 8th of March, we joined the street feeders of KL for the second time. Unlike the first time, this time I was feeling less awkward and less scared to initiate a conversation to our street friends. So we went to the same route going to Masjid Negara.
As we arrived at Masjid Negara, I went to approach a Chinese uncle and soon it was took over by my friend as they spoke Cantonese to each other so I went to approach another younger Chinese man whom was also homeless. He was very open and friendly to talk to and he started to say things about him like he is not like the others and he is only there to experience what life is as he finds the usual life is boring and so on.
After having a conversation with him and it was time to go back, I kept thinking about what he has said. Deep down I know he is homeless and he is just like the others, having no where to go. He has been there since 17 months ago and he began to create lies not for others to listen or to have less sympathy for him but those lies that he created was for him so that he could accept his current situation. I may not know the real reason he is homeless but he knows but he does not want to accept the truth so he is willing to live with the lies.
I realized too often we created lies for ourselves so that we can accept some things in life or just to get over our conscious mind such as when we see a rubbish on the floor thinking the cleaners will sweep it away so we do not have to pick it up into a rubbish bin. We assume and make lies out of absolutely nothing just so that we can and avoid doing something that we are not fond of. In the end, we got drown by our own lies and cannot see the reality in life. We live in the world we made for ourselves and could not see the truth anymore. And that is the power of lies, so when we decide to tell a small lie or white lie, think again. For each lie you made, you would need more and more lies to cover it up or you can choose the right way, to apologize and tell the truth.
Truth may hurts but it is always worth telling the truth, you can lie to others but you cannot fool yourself. So let us be truthful to ourselves and to others. For if you keep lying to yourself, in the end you may be what the world calls a mental patient who does not have a right mind. Ten people can experience the same situation like being homeless but not all ten will become a mental patient. So how are we dealing with what we are facing today?
