Kechara near Pavillion
So that day we went to Kechara to help out in packing the biscuits. At first I was in charged of sealing the packages with the machine that heats a line across the plastic bag to seal the package. It was fun but after awhile it was quite tiring as if it never ends.
I was quite surprised by the place as it is furnished nicely with tables, chairs and even a wide television high on the wall where there can play YouTube videos to listen to songs while working. The stores that stored all the food and drinks were very clean, tidy and big. The Kechara volunteers there are only a few around 5 people and they were very nice to instruct us how to pack and supplied us with some bottled water.
After changing my job scope to packing the biscuits which were fun too and not too long till we finished packing all the biscuits and we also helped to move boxes of water from the front of the store to the back by forming a line. It was exhausting. At the beginning, the 12kg box was manageable but it felt heavier and heavier after 20 boxes of it as if it was 30kg.
All in all it was a great experience to help out in Kechara. To see that there are people who care for the homeless is very heart warming and lovely. While we were there, there were a homeless guy that came in and ask for water as there is a water dispenser and he just took what he came for and did not took the extra bottled water beside it and said thank you. It reminds me that not because the less have less which makes them want more but instead the opposite they know what is enough and be content unlike the more wealthy people.
