Pertiwi near Medan Tuanku Monorail Station
So it was my first time going there, we traveled 4 stops of lrt kelana Jaya line to KL sentral and hopped on to the monorail to travel another 8 stops to medan tuanku. Thankfully it was Sunday so there were no traffic jam.
We were there early and so we went for dinner before heading to the end location. We waited at the place where the food distribution are for quite a long time and I'm quite disappointed with their time as they only came at 9.30pm. The distribution part was smooth and all but their lateness is quite disturbing because many of the homeless were waiting outside the fence for such a long time with children.
While giving out the food, it was easy as we just need to smile and say "sama-sama" to them when they say thank you. The flow was good as they queue accordingly. For me personally it was good but the travel to the place is really tiring. At least 3 hours are gone just for the travelling while the the activity only last an hour or so.
Through it all, I learned that doing volunteering job is not hard, it only takes time and with a bit of compassion and love. And to think there are so many homeless in the capital city of Malaysia. It is as if KL has a beautiful outer beauty but broken inside. Since living in a big city for some times, I realized that city often needs more love than a small town. People often forget that money and fame and success isn't everything in life.
